Terms for creators
For everyone who makes sound walks on this site. Plain-language version.
1. Your content stays yours
The sounds, music, recordings, pictures, videos and words you upload ("your content") remain yours. You give this site permission to store them, copy them as needed to run the service (for example converting sound files or making backups), and play and show them to listeners of your walks, for as long as they are on the site.
2. You are responsible for the rights
Only upload content that you made yourself, or that you have permission to use in this way. That includes:
- music and songs (both the composition and the recording), samples and loops;
- recordings of other people's voices or performances (ask them first);
- sound effects, room recordings (impulse responses), pictures and videos from libraries — follow each one's licence, for example giving credit where a Creative Commons licence asks for it;
- texts, poems and quotations.
You are responsible for any claim that your content breaks someone else's rights, and you agree to cover the site's reasonable costs if such a claim is made because of your content.
3. What isn't allowed
Content that is illegal, that harasses or threatens people, that invades someone's privacy, or that sends listeners somewhere unsafe or onto private property without permission.
4. Removal
If someone tells us your content breaks their rights or these terms, the site's administrator may hide your walk or remove the content while it is looked into, and will tell you.
5. Listeners
The site keeps a log of listening (names listeners give, sounds heard, how long) and, for the administrator, positions for up to 30 days. Listeners are told before they start. Use what you see in the listening log only to improve your walks.
6. Changes
These terms may change. If they do, you'll be asked to agree again before uploading more.
